Stumped

Here's something you may never have guessed. I love to shop. For me, for my boys, for DD, for friends, shopping is thrilling and then some.

So it will also come as no surprise that I look forward to the new season because I get to shop for the boys, lots of lovely new clothes that have to be bought (sadly we have no magic hand-me-down fairy - devastating) but this year, I am stumped, uninspired and a little sad too.

After buying the basics, theres not much about I like, I'm not a fan of licenced clothing, I do not like my boys clothes splashed with Thomas or Ben 10 or anything else really - yep mean mummy but I'm paying so my rules!! (Ok so I relent on pyjama's, underwear and socks but that's about it) and this year, if its not ridiculously priced its got something from some show all over it...vomit. I should also add here, I don't judge, dress your kids however you like, their yours after all, just me personally, just not into it.

And thus I'm stumped, if I don't sort it out quickly my kids are going to freeze.....

You know I hate shopping so here goes - what about online or charity shops or friends with older kids (hand me downs are great!)

Trying online with little success, charity shops = no joy and I would give my right arm for hand me downs but sadly we have no older friends, or those that we do have cousins or little brothers. Its a sad state of affairs.

I love shopping but i'm in the design industry & love my labels, i find Peter Alexander, while pricey, is great value for money as they really last, they look fantastic & my children wear their jammies versus regular clothes, 10 times more & price per wear for looking that great, is pennies. We even did the ugg boots this year, in all the great colours he makes, paying dividends as the heating goes on much later if at all in freezing Canberra. As for clothes - my guys live in Tshirts, so i buy a new jacket every 2 years & they have scarves & beanies from years ago. Some jackets last years, as they only get taller not wider. Plus i have lots of children to hand down to, keep it in the family & all. Love Posie

I'm not a fan of themed clothing either, like you I'll agree to pj's and so on but not 'proper' clothes. Good luck on your hunt, the summer clothes aren't all that inspiring here.

agh...that is my BIGGEST frustration with boys clothing...there is such a limit of cute things and then half of them are branded or themed...I allow pajamas to be themed but draw the line there...lol. PS regarding your hunger games review...I am TOTALLY reading that poolside this summer..DYING TOO. C

I agree with the themed clothing. I think you'll get to a stage that it's impossible to not have brand names emblazoned across tops and the like when they're older. Such a shame isn't it? Like children are walking bill boards for companies.
