Lets bottle that for later kid...

Right at this moment I am sitting with my eyes hanging out of my head, Little Pops has formed a very bad habit of paying us a midnight visit, and in my tired and delirious state I have to admit I have not helped the situation any by hurling him into bed with us, and/or taking him back to our bed and lying down with him till he sleeps again.

Enough...I have not had a decent nights sleep in months, because my little prince takes up more room than my 6ft tall husband and/or I have to actually remove myself from my own bed to put him back to his own.

The nasty truth is that in 7 weeks time, Ill have another little bambino to assist with the lack of sleep, so I don't really need the two year old contributing to the depletion of my sleep bank.

So last night was D day, the game is over little man and you are going back to your own bed. DD and I decided we needed to stand firm, not give in no matter what, that, that kid would go back to his own bed and would go back to sleep on his own. In he came at midnight right on cue...back he went to his own bed and on it went. And on, and on, and on and on. Yes that would be 2.5 hours before we managed to get him to stay in his bed and go to sleep.

That kid sure is persistent, determination possibly should be his middle name, and while at 2 years old its killing me (do you hear me kiddo KILLING me), I'm kind of hoping he doesn't loose it because with that kind of persistence the kid is sure to make millions, and look after his parents in their old age!

oh no! Sending you peaceful dreamy quiet thoughts. Hope you get a good nights rest tonight! Be tough my friend, it will be worth it in the end!

Ouch! Hard work. Hopefully once the habit is broken it will be fine but I so know that reaction of just hauling them into your bed.

Our Flynn started doing something similar a couple of months ago too - waking up in the middle of the night but thankfully asking for Daddy... so i wasnt missing too much sleep but Mick was. So i encouraged Mick to go all hard arse on the boy... now Mick will take him back, tuck him, spend maybe 1 min giving him a cuddle and then he's on his own. 9 times out of 10 its working...

Gah! I'm sorry! Two year old K. had a sleep regression right when his little brother came along, too. I bet he did it on purpose. :)

Oh no honey, there is nothing worse. I was lucky with sleepers but when one does end up in your bed, they do take up more space than a 6' man, it's crazy!! When my husband came home from war a few weeks ago, my son was so excited he climbed into bed to be close to Daddy (this child is 8) & OMG, he slept like a star fish. Bless his heart, he was cold, so we bought him a new Winter doona, that fixed him. If my 4 wake, it's normally for a reason, often temperature.
Good luck with the next baby, you really have to go into new motherhood again with plenty of rest!! Love Posie

At 2 1/2 we are passed that phase but Connor did the SAME thing and for a good month or more (ashamed to admit) he slept with us...it was easier then carrying him back.

Connor gives me plenty of challenges for sure BUT...but we moved him into his big boy bed on Monday...took his binky away at night...decided to go hardcore balls to the wall and guess what...utter shock...the little guy has slept through night until 8am, binky free without a single cry or peep. I can't even believe I am writing this for fear of jinxing it. lol.

Hope you are well mama...we are getting CLOSE!!!!
